About Us

The Accra chapter of the Hash House Harriers meets every Monday night at 1715 at various locations throughout Accra.  We put together weekend Hashes more or less once a month as well. These affairs are arranged outside of Accra for a change of scenery. As with any and all Hash groups, we are a Drinking Club with a Running problem, period.

Currently we have about 35 dedicated members and on some nights support up to 75.

Practical details

The usual run fee (to cover the cost of drinks, warrior awards and this website) is 7 Cedis, the price increases to 8 Cedis on a chop night. These fall on the first Monday of each month and for most weekend runs. There is also a surcharge of 1 Cedi for all new runners to cover the cost of a mug - a most essential item for any Hasher. Accra Hash, for reasons no one remembers, never drink from the bottle. Everybody must have a Hash mug.

Children are welcome but must pay 50% of the adult price. Parents should be aware that language in the circle can be colourful and most Monday runs include sections on busy roads.

Haberdashers stash

Like all good hashes we have a stock of useless items to flog you at rip off prices. These include:

T-shirts (various designs, 8 to 15 Cedis). Any regular Hasher without a hash shirt is likely to face a charge from the RA.

Penis-shaped wooden bottle openers. Clearly these were specially designed to help us remember the person who ordered 200 of them. They cost only 4 Cedis and we have sold 3 in 2 years.
